If you’re looking for an item that Georgina Public Library doesn’t own, we may be able to borrow it for you from another library system through Interlibrary Loan (ILLO).
Before you make a request to borrow from another library system, make sure you’ve checked to see if we have it in our catalogue. We cannot borrow an item from another library if we own it ourselves.
Each library system chooses their own parameters around what they will or will not lend out. Once you have submitted your request, we will search to see if the title is available and then it is up to the loaning library to accept our request and send a copy of their material.

To make a request for an Interlibrary Loan, you need a valid Georgina Public Library card.
You can submit a request by speaking with staff in person, or over the phone.
To help us locate your item quickly, please include as much information as possible (title, author, ISBN, format, and publication year).
We have recently migrated our Interlibrary Loan software along with the rest of the connected library systems across Ontario and transitioned to the new platform.
Note that interlibrary loan requests are limited to three active requests per account at a time.
Arrival times vary depending on the lending library. Most items arrive within two to six weeks.
We will contact you as soon as your ILLO is ready for pickup. Once the requested item is available at your designated pick-up location, prompt
pick-up ensures that you will have the maximum borrowing time set by the lending library system.
Loan periods are set by the lending library, not GPL. Some items may come with restrictions, such as “no renewals” or “in-library use only.”
To renew an item, speak with library staff or send an email to several days prior to the due date of the item to request a renewal. The request will be forwarded to the lending library system and they will determine whether they will permit a renewal – this is not a decision made by the Georgina Public Library.
Replacement or repair charges are set by the lending library and must be paid in full by the patron.
