Use the steps below to remove a card:

  1. Go to Menu > Manage Cards.
  2. Tap Actions (on your card).
  3. Tap Remove Card, then Yes, Remove Card.

If you set up Libby on other devices with a setup code, the library card will automatically be removed from those as well.

Renaming library cards in Libby

  1. Go to Menu > Manage Cards.
  2. Tap Actions (on your card), then Rename Card.
  3. Rename your card and tap Save.

Signing out of Libby

Libby doesn't have a sign out button. Instead, you can remove your library cards or reset the application.

Removing your library cards deletes your card information, loans, and holds from the app, but preserves your tags and activity. Here are the steps:

  1. Go to Menu > Manage Cards.
  2. Tap Actions (on your card).
  3. Tap Remove Card, then Yes, Remove Card.

Resetting the application deletes all data from Libby, including tags and activity, which can't be recovered.

To reset Libby:

  1. Go to Menu > Get Some Help.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page and tap Reset Everything.
  3. Select Yes, Reset Everything to confirm.

What format are the digital books in Libby?

Unless you tell it otherwise, Libby downloads digital books in the Read or Listen formats.

By default, all borrowed titles will automatically download to your Shelf for offline viewing, but only when you are connected to WiFi.

If you are using mobile data, you can manually download titles by selecting the download button next to the items on your Shelf. You can adjust these settings by going to Menu > Settings > Change Download Rules.

Can I use more than one library card or cards from different libraries in Libby?

Yes! Libby makes it easy to switch between library cards or between different libraries. Open the menu, then tap a different library from the list of Your Libraries. The best part is that all your digital checkouts from different cards and libraries are on the same shelf, so there is no need to switch between libraries or cards to read your books.

To add another library card, see Adding library cards in Libby (above).

Where can I go to find more help with Libby?

Libby help is available at help.libbyapp.com and via the Get Some Help option in the app's menu. You can also stop by any of our locations and ask for assistance.

Films will require two tickets per play or four tickets per play for major studio productions. Shorts, which are single titles with a run time of 30 minutes or less, will require one ticket per play. Episodic content, like TV shows, will have variable ticketing and viewing windows dependent on total run time.

When you run out of tickets, here is the messaging you are going to see:

On a mobile device or a TV: Not Enough Tickets. You don't have enough tickets to watch this title. Tickets reset at the start of each month. In the meantime, you can still watch unlimited viewing titles.

Kanopy Kids titles will not require any tickets to access.

The Great Courses will now be included in the ticket system. Most of this content will require five tickets per course with a viewing period of up to 21 days.

OverDrive Magazines--3,000 titles to choose from

Patrons can enjoy magazines, eBooks, and eAudiobooks all in one place. OverDrive is excited to offer OverDrive Magazines, over 3,000 popular titles available to read in your browser or in the Libby app! Check out OverDrive Magazines.

OverDrive Magazines have no circulation cap and allow unlimited simultaneous use, so you can enjoy every issue of every magazine. With smart tags in the Libby app, you can be notified when each new issue is released.

Enjoy magazines on the Libby reading app.

  • One tap to read: When a user discovers a magazine in your collection, they can open it and start reading with one tap, generating a checkout for your library.
  • Streamlined access: Instead of appearing alongside eBook and audiobook loans, magazines now appear on a new dedicated section of a user’s Shelf called the Magazine Rack. From the Magazine Rack, your users can access the latest issue of their magazine subscriptions and any other issues they choose to keep. This helps users find their favorite magazines from your library in one convenient place.
  • Note: To save space on a user’s device, magazines are not automatically downloaded for offline use. Instead, users can manually choose which issues to download.
  • Improved discovery: From their Magazine Rack, users can navigate to your library’s Newsstand, a new view of a user’s recently opened issues and other popular magazine titles in your collection.
  • Easier subscriptions: Users can subscribe to magazines from your library via a new, convenient Subscribe button that appears in search results, on magazine details screens, and in the Newsstand.

When a new issue is released:

1. The issue is automatically added to the user’s Magazine Rack.
2. A checkout is generated for your library.
3. The user will receive a notification based on their Libby notification preferences (in-app, push, or email).
