Discovery Branch A Repair Café brings together people with items to repair and volunteer fixers with tools to share. Presented in collaboration with the Regional Municipality of York and NewMakeIt. About this event: A Repair Café is an event where people can bring a variety of household items to be fixed for free. Whether you’re unsure how to do the repair, don’t have the space or the right tools, the Repair Café offers a solution. Volunteer fixers are available to assess your needs and will do their best to fix your item. Specialties at each Repair Café may differ as it is dependent on the volunteer fixers attending that day. When you register online, please indicate the item you are bringing. If you know your repair will require replacement parts (e.g. bicycle tire tube, buttons, etc.) please bring the parts with you. |
Stroke Drop in Support Group: Peter Gzowski (Sutton) Branch Wednesdays--Resuming December 11 |
Stroke Drop in Support Group Connect with other stroke survivors and their families. Learn about community and national organizations and resources available to stroke survivors and their families. Facilitator information: Ron LaCombe facilitates the Stroke Drop in Support Group. He had a stroke in 2012, and has had many people help him in his recovery to get to where he is today. For the last 10 years, he has been giving back to the community. He continues to pass on what he learned from volunteering in numerous research projects and getting involved in stroke advocacy committees. His goal is to be able to help give individuals the tools and supports they need to give them a chance to live their best lives possible after a stroke. Ron is a trained facilitator with March of Dimes, and the co-chair for Toronto Stroke Networks Patient and Family Advisory Council. For more information about the support group, please contact Ron. |
