Renewing Items
We’re excited to introduce automatic renewals, making it easier than ever to enjoy your library materials without worrying about due dates. Eligible items on your account will be automatically renewed before their due date—no action required.
What you need to know:
- Items will automatically renew if: there are no holds on the item, and the item has not reached its maximum number of renewals.
- If an item cannot be renewed, you’ll be responsible for returning it by the due date.
- You can still renew items yourself at any time.
- What this means for you.
- No need to manually renew most items.
- More time to enjoy your materials, and fewer overdue items.
Check your due dates regularly through your online account or by contacting us.
If you have any questions, please reach out—we’re happy to help!
How to renew materials
- You may renew materials by clicking on My Account in our online catalogue or downloading the GPL app from the App Store or Google Play.
- Renew items logging into your account through our catalogue or contact us.
- Materials may be renewed for two additional loan periods (see exceptions below)
Exceptions
Some items may not be renewable for the following reasons:
- your card has been blocked due to maximum fees owing for lost or damaged items or having too many overdue items
- a hold has been placed on the item by another patron
Certain items, including reference materials, are for in-library use only and cannot be borrowed.
Fees
Georgina Public Library is fine free! What does this mean for you? No fines for overdue library materials! You will still have to pay for lost or damaged library materials, as outlined in the chart below. Items are considered lost if they are more than one month overdue, so remember to return or renew your materials on time.
Lost or damaged items
Lost or damaged items are subject to fines.

Adult cards and juvenile/juvenile plus/teen cards are blocked when the fees owing reach $30.00.
