With a library card, you can access a wide range of materials such as books, eBooks, DVDs, CDs, and video games, as well as items in our Lendery such as Wi-Fi hotspots, Aga Kahn Museum Passes, Launchpads, Ontario Parks Day-Use Permits and much more.

How to Borrow Items

Browse our Online Catalogue to view items that can be borrowed or use our Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) computers in-branch to search the catalogue. Using your PIN, you can place items on hold through the Online Catalogue. Please note that not all items are eligible for holds.

A PIN number is assigned when you register for a card. For more information about your PIN, see How to Get a Library Card.

How to Return Items

Return materials to any GPL branch in-person during library hours or using the drop box anytime. Some items such as Lendery items and hotspots must be returned in-person during open hours. Please call your local branch if you are unsure if your item needs to be returned in-person.

How to renew items

GPL has introduced automatic renewals for eligible items. Eligible items will be renewed automatically prior to their due date. Please view our Renewals and Fees for more information.
