"Libraries are a refuge and a resource. As a child, the public library opened new worlds to me, both real and imaginary. I could travel to places and times that were magical. Books became my constant companions. I did not come from a rich family, but the riches I found at the library were immeasurable. I became a lifelong learner, earning my degree by correspondence at the age of 39. The library was my constant resource. My education and research provided me the tools to flourish in my career in Social Services. I am retired now. It is time for me to give back, to share and promote the best community resource that we have."
