Grate Groan-Up Spelling Bee

Bringing together friends, residents, volunteers, local businesses, politicians, non-profits, and some excellent spellers, the 16th Annual Grate Groan-Up Spelling Bee aims to provide extra support to our library system.

With the generous donations and support of the Georgina Business community, we have been able to:

• increase the programs and services offered including the recent Planetarium visit
• Truth and Reconciliation events in partnership with the Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation
• new additions to the Maker Space and much more.

Teams of three will compete for the coveted title and bragging rights of being the Best Spellers in Georgina.

With your support, we can unlock the new possibilities for our community.

• Become a Bee Sponsor: We offer four, tailored sponsorship tiers to ensure the perfect fit for your business involvement.
• Enter or Sponsor a Team: Enter a team of three people in the Bee, or sponsor a non-profit team's entry.
• Donate Goods: Contribute an item for our silent action or door prizes.
• Attend the Event: Purchase a ticket to enjoy an evening of fun entertainment and great food with friends and neighbours. 

• To promote literacy in our community.
• To bring people together for a fun night to celebrate the library
• To help the library raise funds for extra items that improve the Library
• To help the library fund events, technology, and improvements to the community space 

• The $250.00 entry fee includes entry of one team of three into the Spelling Bee, buffet dinner, and gift bag for each team member.
• The entry fee can be paid by the team or you can find sponsors to cover the cost.
• You can reserve tickets for cheerleaders at $50.00 per person.
• Extra dinner tickets for Team Supporters are available for $50.00 each.
• Some sponsorship levels include more tickets and advertising.
• Complete the Team Entry Form online, fax, or return the form to any of our locations by Tuesday, May 6.
• Payment made be made at any library location with proof of Team entry. Please make cheques payable to Georgina Public Library.

• We may be able to help you find a partial sponsor to top up the money you have raised. We help find sponsors for non-profit organizations.  

• Absolutely. You can buy a ticket starting in April for $50.00 at any library location. You can even tell us at which Team's table you would like to sit. Tickets include buffet dinner, dessert, coffee/tea, and a door prize ticket. 

• Tickets are now on sale at all GPL branches.
• Tickets are $50.00 per person. 
• Tickets won't be available at the door on the night of the Spelling Bee.
• We accept cash, Debit, Visa, MasterCard or cheques payable to Georgina Public Library.
